Tragedy struck the Lauderhill community when a 29-year-old man, Shondel Brathwaite, was shot and killed in the back parking lot of a local restaurant. According to NBC Miami, the incident unfolded after 7 p.m. Friday night at Lallo's, located at 1400 North State Road 7. Responding officers found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound, and despite efforts to save his life, he was later pronounced dead at Broward Health Medical Center.
The unfolding investigation has yet to shed light on the identity of the assailant or the motive behind the shooting. Witnesses told police that Brathwaite had been engaged in an argument with an unknown subject prior to the shooting. The ambiance at the restaurant, a site of such brutal violence, returned to one of eerie normality as hundreds gathered for an event on the restaurant’s back patio the following night.
