A 31-year-old man was fatally shot in DeKalb County early Sunday morning, in what police are calling a violent theft that left him dying outside his own vehicle. The DeKalb County Police Department, who responded to the shooting in the 4000 block of Redan Road at approximately 6:06 a.m., discovered the victim with multiple gunshot wounds.
He was transported to the hospital, where, despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries. Atlanta News First reported that the man was approached by two assailants who, after shooting him, fled the scene in the victim's car, a detail that has sparked a wider investigation into the fatal incident.
Details about the suspects remain vague as the police have not released descriptions or motives behind the attack. The area of Redan Road where the crime took place is now under scrutiny as investigators comb for evidence that might lead to the killers' apprehension.
WSBTV notes, that the case is ongoing and DeKalb County detectives are urging anyone with information to come forward. In the meantime, the community is left grappling with the loss of another life to gun violence, and the reality that the perpetrators remain at large.
