A 28-year-old man was gruesomely killed in his own home last night when a known assailant pumped bullets through his front door in Chicago's Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood, police told the Chicago Tribune. The brazen attack occurred just before 10 p.m. on the 200 block of East 69th Street.
The shooter, believed to quickly know the victim, reportedly approached and knocked on the door before unloading multiple rounds and then escaping. The victim, struck in the chest, was rushed in critical condition to UChicago Medicine where he succumbed to his injuries, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Meanwhile, the Chicago Sun-Times reported that no arrests have been made in connection with the violent shooting. Detectives from Area 1 are currently investigating the incident as the neighborhood grapples with the aftermath of yet another act of gun violence that has cut a life tragically short.
The identity of the gunman, who still remains at large, has not been released but is said to likely have been familiar with the victim. A motive behind the incident is still to be determined. The Chicago police have urged anyone with information to come forward and assist in their ongoing investigation, said the Chicago Sun-Times.
