A hit-and-run on San Antonio's West Side left one man dead late yesterday evening. The victim, a man in his 40s, was struck and killed by an unidentified motorist, who fled the scene without aiding the victim or reporting the incident, police said.
The fatal encounter occurred around 9:30 p.m. along the 1300 block of Culebra Road. According to a report by KENS 5, the vehicle involved has not been described, and no witnesses have come forward. The police are currently in the dark, as they have yet to gather any substantial leads on the driver or the car involved.
The identity of the deceased has not been released; investigators are presumably working to notify next of kin. The area of Culebra Road near North Hamilton Avenue became an impromptu crime scene, cordoned off as officials combed for evidence of the culpable vehicle and any clues that could lead to the apprehension of the driver.
Local authorities are actively searching for the hit-and-run driver. "The man was pronounced dead at the scene," said officers, as published by FOX San Antonio. They urge anyone with information, to come forward to assist in their ongoing investigation into the tragic incident.
