Tragedy struck Grand Blanc Township this past Saturday, as police discovered a 44-year-old man dead in a residence following a domestic dispute, authorities confirmed. The Grand Blanc Township Police were dispatched after a 57-year-old woman reported that her husband had assaulted her and was armed with a gun. Shortly after fleeing the home, she heard a gunshot, ABC12 reported.
The incident, which prompted the closure of Dort Highway just north of Saginaw Road, led to the Michigan State Police Emergency Response Team being called to the scene. Upon their arrival, the 44-year-old male was found deceased inside the home, while the woman was later taken to a nearby hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. The shooting, which took place at the intersection of South Dort Highway and Durant Heights, has been said to pose no threat to the public, Grand Blanc Township Police Chief William Renye told WNEM.
Investigators are piecing together the events that led to the fatality, and while details are scant. The woman involved, who sustained her injuries during the assault, was transported to Hurley Medical Center, as per WNEM's coverage.
