A North Side construction company has been victim to an alleged burglary, with Richard Dakota Brown, 27, accused of swiping tools from their premises last fall. Court documents indicate that the incident took place on October 8, 2023, when Brown purportedly made off with tools from an unlocked work truck and later from a storage building on West Avenue and Jackson Keller Road, as reported by FOX San Antonio. Following an alert by a burglar alarm, the site manager intercepted Brown, who was seemingly trying to make a quick getaway.
The suspect was apparently spotted on the street, sporting attire that matched the one seen on security footage. In an attempt to definitely evade capture, Brown was inadvertently hit by a vehicle but continued his escape, only to be caught at a nearby storage facility. Authorities arrived to detain Brown, who had also sustained injuries that were tended by EMS.
Investigation of the service video by police led to Brown's identification as the suspect in the theft. After being arrested on March 21, he was released on bond, which he is alleged to have violated, resulting in another arrest yesterday. Brown now faces several charges including Burglary of a Building with the Intent of Theft and Evading Arrest or Detention.
The charges against Brown also include two counts of Burglary of Vehicles and possession charges for controlled substances, spanning less than one gram to between 14 and 200 grams.
