Maple Grove is lacing up for a series of family-friendly roller skating events set to glide through summer at the Central Park Skate Loop. In a nod to simpler times and the recent retro revival, the city is dishing out free fun on wheels for all ages.
Anyone looking to roll back the years or just to enjoy a night under the sky can head to Maple Grove's Central Park. Starting July 12 and continuing through to September, the park promises to quickly transform into a vibrant hub of music and movement, as detailed by the City of Maple Grove. Residents can bring their skates or, for those who haven't yet jumped back onto the bandwagon, over 200 pairs of roller skates will be available to borrow at no cost, ensuring no one has to just sit around to watch the action.
The roller skating events, according to the City of Maple Grove, are scheduled to take place on select Fridays from 6 to 8:30 p.m., with the three main dates being July 12, August 9, and September 6. The city is pulling out all the stops with fun lighting and engaging music to set the atmosphere, not to mention the opportunity for families and friends to capture the moments with photos.
Gone are the days when roller skating seemed to permanently roll to a stop. Thanks to events like this, Maple Grove is showing once more how community gatherings can indeed to come full circle, bringing together people of all walks—and rolls—of life. And hey, you can't beat the classics, especially when it's free. "This is a guaranteed good time," the city announced, and judging by the buzz already building around the Central Park Skate Loop, they seem to be skating onto something big.
