Vallejo's Mare Island Causeway Bridge is currently stuck due to mechanical problems, halting boat traffic on the Napa River. The city has called in consultants and regional and state experts to resolve the issue by May 31.
For safety reasons, the bridge remains in the lowered position. City Manager Andrew Murray stated, "Given that the safety of our residents is our top priority, we chose to keep the bridge in the lowered position to ensure our emergency vehicles can pass without delay in the event of an emergency."
This disruption affects boat traffic, particularly for those heading to the BottleRock festival this weekend. The city recommends using the San Francisco Bay Ferry and Vine Transit Bus from the Vallejo Ferry Terminal as alternatives.
Vine Transit is offering free rides for festivalgoers and has extended hours to accommodate the after-concert crowd. The US Coast Guard is aware of the situation and is coordinating efforts.
Travelers should plan accordingly and consider taking the ferry. For more information, visit the city's Facebook page.
