Bright and early at 9:30 a.m. this morning, Parker was front and center for the Philadelphia Pride Flag Raising Ceremony, according to the city's official schedule. She stood shoulder-to-shoulder with LGBTQ Affairs Director Celena Morrison and other city honchos, recognizing a community that's woven deeply into the city's vibrant tapestry. The flag-raising is just the start of a month-long celebration of LGBTQ accomplishments and history. The ceremony took place at the North Apron of City Hall, the City of Philadelphia cited.
But Mayor Parker's day is far from over. She's scheduled to quickly hop over to the Fillmore at 10:30 a.m. for the 2nd Annual Roots Picnic Con. The event, brought to the masses free of charge, is a day-long blend of music, culture, and empowering dialogues, all under the banner of the legendary Philly hip-hop band The Roots.
