A Miami man has been caught living the high life in a plush condo, all thanks to a fake ID, federal authorities said. Alfred Lenoris Davis, 50, was convicted of using a counterfeit driver's license to illegally cozy up in a luxury condominium in Sunny Isles Beach. NBC Miami reported that the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida confirmed Davis's conviction Tuesday, which stemmed from his ability to hide his checkered past from the condo's board using the fraudulent license.
This convicted felon apparently managed to effortlessly slip past security measures, enjoying amenities usually reserved for the law-abiding elite. According to NBC Miami, the use of the sham ID prevented his criminal history from popping up during what should have been a thorough review of his qualifications by the condo's board members.
Not only did Davis snag a sweet pad by the sea, but he also faced the potential to be locked up for up to a decade. The upcoming sentencing, slated for July 11, will see U.S. District Judge Jose E. Martinez decide Davis's fate after considering guidelines and statutory factors. This was detailed by the U.S. Attorney's Office who covered the case along with the FBI's Miami Field Office, with Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jonathan Bailyn and Katie L. Sadlo prosecuting the scheme.
