A Michigan man is laid up with serious injuries after his high-speed joyride came to a crashing halt into a house, CBS News Detroit reports. The Lenawee County Sheriff's Office stated the motorist, steering a 2001 Chevrolet Corvette, veered off the path on West Carleton Road early Tuesday.
Trouble flared around 6:51 a.m. when deputies rushed to the 13000 block near Hudson Township, where they found the eastbound Corvette had taken an unscheduled detour through a yard, slamming into an empty residence, giving a new meaning to 'home invasion.' The driver was promptly whisked away to a local hospital to tend to his injuries, according to The Detroit News.
Investigators sifting through the wreckage confirmed that thankfully, the house was unoccupied sparing residents from harm, the sheriff's office added, per The Daily Telegram. They also nodded off speculations of alcohol being the jinx behind the wheel; it's not considered a factor in the vehicular chaos.
The Hudson man's smash-up has kicked off a probe to excavate the cause, while his ride and the house nurse their bruises. The Hudson Fire Department and EMS, alongside the Clayton Fire Department, were also summoned to mend the scene, as the sheriff's department coordinates to piece together the Shelby-like shreds of what went down methodically, the officials stated.
