An 81-year-old Danville woman with dementia who had gone missing was found unharmed, officials said yesterday. Anna Palma, who had been reported missing on May 9, was located following a joint search by the Danville Police Department and neighboring law enforcement agencies, according to the department's Facebook page. "The missing person reported May 9, Anna Palma, has been located unharmed after extensive collaborative efforts," the Danville Police Department stated.
Prior to her safe return, Palma was last seen walking away from her home on Verde Mesa Drive at about 2 a.m., wearing a floral blouse and carrying a clothing bag. The Danville Police had issued an alert and requested community assistance to help find her. Wearing a floral blouse, the police described her and noted she was carrying a clothing bag, indicating the kind of help from the public that could lead to her being found.
Information provided by the Danville Police Department led to Palma's location. They credited the public and media response for generating crucial tips in the search. "The response generated many tips with information that assisted in the search," the department's social media update expressed gratitude.
The community had been urgently called upon to look out for the elderly woman, given her vulnerable condition. Calling the situation to be treated with the utmost concern, residents of Danville and surrounding areas were asked to report any sightings or information to the Danville Police Department at 925-820-2144, according to a post sourced from Hoodline.
