Detroit, long known for its resilience and rich history, is set to roll the dice with a version of Monopoly that's all its own. As reported by CBS News Detroit, a Monopoly: Detroit Edition is in the pipeline, replacing traditional Atlantic City properties with Detroit businesses, nonprofits and landmarks. This customized board game aims to celebrate the city's diverse culture, famed locations, and undying spirit.

Top Trumps, the creator behind the game, is on a mission to find iconic Detroit staples to feature on the board. According to a WXYZ report, local establishments have the unique chance to permanently etch their names on the Monopoly squares—and they can never to be removed. "Certain pizza places, certain landmarks, I've heard the Fisher Building a lot, the RenCen, we got a whole bunch of non-profits that have submitted and been submitted for. It's a pretty diverse range; there's not one that's miles above anyone else," Tim Barney of Top Trumps elaborated, per CBS News Detroit. Will these local favorites pass go and collect $200? Only time will tell after public submissions are vetted diligently.

And how will this all stack-up? The board will even feature customized Community Chest and Chance playing cards to really capture the essence of the Detroit experience. Barney said, as per MLive, "The world doesn't know what is in the game until the unveiling," much like one of those secret Detroit speakeasies from the Prohibition era. Simultaneously, the public is urged to roll up their sleeves and suggest their favorite city highlights to potentially to be featured as squares on the board. It'll be like harvest season for Detroit pride when the game hits the shelves, available in stores and online with retail partners such as CVS and Amazon, as well as select local Detroit retailers.

Don't miss your chance to be part of history; submissions for the Detroit Monopoly board are open to the public. If you're a business or nonprofit looking to snag a spot on the board for life, or simply a proud citizen with a location dear to your heart, it's now or never.
