A routine traffic stop turned jackpot for law enforcement in New Caney, TX, when deputies stumbled upon a hoard of cash and drugs, arresting two alleged money launderers in the process. Montgomery County Pct. 4 Constable’s Office reported deputies flagging down a vehicle for traffic violations on the US-59 service road, leading to the discovery of about $500,000 in cash concealed in the truck bed.
With Pct. 4 detectives joining the investigation, the trail of evidence thickened, suggesting that the seized cash was believed to be proceeds from drug transactions. The occupants of the vehicle, identified as Angel Cabrera-Bueno, and Jesus Cabrera, both Mexican Nationals, were promptly arrested on charges of money laundering exceeding $300,000.
The bust did not end with the apprehension on the highway, it stretched to a residence on the 2100 block of Russell Dr., where detectives executed a search that uncovered an additional $1.3 million in cash, alongside 19 kilograms of cocaine and 1 kilogram of heroin.
In a patriotic nod to the Pct. 4's law enforcement announcement, Constable Haden's team is being hailed for their efforts in the fight against drug proliferation in our communities.
