Mt. Pleasant Man Accused of Stabbing Sleeping Parents, Arrested After ManhuntSource: Facebook/Isabella County Sheriffs Office

A 24-year-old man from Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, was taken into custody after he allegedly attacked his parents with a knife while they slept. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, May 25th, as reported by ABC12. The suspect was arrested after a manhunt which ended with a traffic stop by Clinton County deputies.

The parents, a 42-year-old mother, and a 43-year-old father woke up during the assault and defended themselves against their son. Despite the interruption of their sleep by the violent intrusion, they sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The Isabella County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that two young children were present but asleep elsewhere in the home and were not harmed. Fleeing the scene before law enforcement arrived, police successfully located the suspect swiftly after he fled the scene in a vehicle headed south on U.S. 127.

According to information released by WWJ Newsradio, the Isabella County Sheriff's Office responded to a distress call from the home located on South Winn Road near River. They arrived to discover the suspect had already fled. The Sheriff’s Office also noted that while the parents were able to fend off the attack, the motive behind the son's violent actions remains undisclosed.

After a coordinated effort with neighboring counties, the suspect was apprehended less than an hour after the stabbing. The man, whose identity has not been released, is currently in Isabella County Jail, awaiting arraignment on possible attempted murder charges, as described by the Isabella County Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's Office has not yet commented further on the incident or the condition of the parents, as noted in a report from MLive.
