New Braunfels' premier fitness destination, Das Rec, is tweaking its hours for the Memorial Day, keeping its doors open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 27 for the city dwellers looking to squeeze in a holiday workout or a splash in the pool. Announced on the city's official website, these shortened hours are meant to honor the federal holiday while still providing access to amenities for residents and their families.
Eager swimmers can take a dive in the competition pool from the early hours of 8 a.m. till 4:30 p.m., or luxuriate in the leisure pool which offers up an exercise swim block between 8 a.m. and noon, followed by open swim until 4:30 p.m. Considering the holiday, these timings present a perfect escape from the Texas heat for both lap swimmers and splash-loving kiddos.
For those New Braunfels locals looking to stay dry, Das Rec's group exercise offerings are nothing to scoff at. As reported on the city’s website, the fitness center has a full schedule of classes in the main studio with "High Fitness" at 0830 led by Jessica and a "Step & Sculpt" class at 0930 with Lariesa at the helm. Zumba enthusiasts also get their fix courtesy of Alma at 1030.
Yoga and barre are not left behind, with Lariesa, and Erika guiding attendees through "Barre Fitness," "Beginner Yoga," and "Yoga Flow" starting at 0830 in the multipurpose space. Water lovers, don't despair; the pool schedule boasts a "Gentle Aqua" class at 0815 with Kari and "Aqua Zumba" at 0915, where Alma will bring the rhythm to the water yet again.
Keen to honor the day in a more vigorous fashion, the Das Yard is hosting a Memorial Day Bootcamp at 0815, with Vanessa promising to turn up the intensity for workout warriors looking to honor the troops with sweat and determination. So, for those New Braunfels residents determined to make the most of the Memorial Day holiday, Das Rec seems more than ready to accommodate with both open arms and modified hours.
