A Coweta County man, a known child molester on parole, could find himself behind bars once again after failing a polygraph test and admitting to what he describes as an addiction to child pornography. Aaron Jones Rhodes, 40, was caught with thousands of illicit images on electronic devices in his Newnan home, according to authorities.
Rhodes, who racked up a 40-year prison sentence back in 2016 for two counts of child molestation, was let out early after serving just eight years, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta. Investigators, during a home search stipulated as part of his parole agreement, discovered the disturbing content on a cell phone and a tablet. "The tablet that we did find on scene did have some images of child sexual abuse material," Inv. Jason Brooks from the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office detailed in the report.
Rhodes' parole conditions included routine polygraph tests where he recently failed to be questioned about possession of child sexual abuse materials, an accusation that was substantiated by the digital evidence found in his possession. His confession came amidst the allegations, with Rhodes revealing to investigators a compulsion for such content. "Rhodes confessed to being addicted to child pornography," officials noted, as stated in a report by WSB-TV.
Now facing new charges in addition to a parole violation, Rhodes is being held at the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center. The exact amount of illegal materials he possessed is still under investigation, but early estimates suggest a shocking tally into the thousands. Inv. Brooks disclosed, "Thousands. Well over 1,000 in one folder. There were 2,000 in another folder. And we have other devices to forensically exam," as found in the FOX 5 Atlanta interview.
Authorities confirmed Rhodes was booked on four felony counts for his recent charges. If convicted, Rhodes is likely to serve the remainder of his original sentence, cutting short his time outside the prison system – where it appears his illicit activities resumed, and quickly unraveled his facade of rehabilitation.
