
Chaos erupted on a Northeast D.C. street corner Wednesday when an argument escalated into a violent stabbing incident, involving pepper spray and a blade, according to police. The Metropolitan Police Department reported the altercation took place at around 1:16 p.m. at 7th and A Streets.
The dispute between the two men quickly turned physical as the suspect unleashed pepper spray on the victim before a struggle ensued. It was during this confrontation that the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim. Officers who swiftly responded to the scene managed to apprehend the assailant and recover a knife purportedly used in the attack.
Police treatment was on hand to administer first aid for what were described as minor injuries sustained by the victim. There were no reports of additional casualties or threats to the public.
MPD has identified the man taken into custody as 26-year-old Sebastian Gustav Fonseca-Gomez, a resident of Northeast D.C. He now faces charges for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife) following the midday melee.
