Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents slapped handcuffs on an Oglethorpe man after charges surfaced alleging he coerced two underage girls into drinking alcohol, an episode that reportedly ended with both minors ill. Edvardo P. Johnson, 32, faces multiple charges including Cruelty to Children, Reckless Conduct, and Illegally Supplying Alcohol to both females under 21 years of age, Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced.
The accusations stem from a disturbing incident on May 6, after which a collaborative investigation between the Montezuma Police Department and the Macon County Sheriff’s Office took flight, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation later came aboard to assist, revealing through interviews that Johnson pressured the victims into alcoholic consumption until they were ailing—the enforced intoxication eliciting complaints to parents that soon burgeoned into forensic scrutiny.
Currently, Johnson sits behind bars at the Sumter County Jail, which acts as a containment venue for Macon County detainees, his fate hanging on the gears of justice as Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents continue to delve into the events of that day, plumbing the depths of what is described as an "active and ongoing" case.
Authorities are rallying the public for any shred of insight into Johnson's conduct, inviting tips through a hotline at 1-800-597-TIPS and offering digital submission options, either via the Georgia Bureau of Investigation website or by employing the See Something, Send Something mobile application—tools in the civic arsenal paving the way for those who wish to provide information, yet may be seeking the shelter of anonymity.
