Tragedy erupted on the North Side of San Antonio this morning when a car rolled over and caught fire, leaving one person dead.
According to a report by KENS 5, the devastating accident took place off of Highway 281 and San Pedro Avenue. Responding at approximately 12:26 a.m., firefighters found the vehicle had lost control, turning off the road and igniting.
Officials reported the impact was severe, with the car bursting into flames following the rollover. After extinguishing the fire, emergency crews discovered a body inside the charred remains.
FOX San Antonio added that the area of the incident, a deadly one, was on the San Pedro turn just before U.S. Highway 281. Police are still working to confirm whether the victim, found inside the vehicle, was indeed the person who was driving at the time of the crash.
The identification of the victim remains unknown as the medical examiner's office is continuing to review the case, hindered by the extent of injuries to make a timely identification. As details emerge, more light will be shed on the circumstances surrounding this fatal incident.
