RANDOLPH, Mass. — The hunt is on for an armed robbery suspect who eluded police in Randolph yesterday, with law enforcement capturing one accomplice while another remains at large, officials stated. According to Boston 25 News, the incident occurred Monday afternoon when two individuals allegedly targeted a person in a car near Johnson Drive, making off with jewelry and a cellphone.
The Randolph police were quick to apprehend an 18-year-old male suspect from Malden after a chase. Incidentally, the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing was also deployed but failed to locate the second perpetrator. Police continued their search as the suspect fled toward the town dump adjacent to Route 24, as details emerged from Boston 25 News.
Emmanuel Ofoarami, a witness in the area, provided a chilling account, "Initially I thought they were robbers and they wanted to come and rob the house," adding to the tension as he wasn’t sure about the presence of a firearm, which instilled fear, he divulged to Boston 25 News.
Law enforcement with long guns and K-9 units intensified the search. Officers were canvassing the area near Johnson Drive shortly after the robbery took place. Another witness claimed to have seen a car speeding down the street before it was abandoned in a neighbor's lawn. Despite intensive efforts, including a foot pursuit that led to the initial capture, the situation remained unresolved. Locals are being asked to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to the police at 781-963-1212, as outlined in a statement collected by Boston.com.
The search continues unabated with Randolph Police Chief Anthony Marag rallying the community to aid in the manhunt, "Residents of that area of Randolph are asked by Marag to call police at 781-963-1212 if they notice any suspicious activity," as stated by WCVB.
