It was a heist that ended in handcuffs. Tyler Xavier Harrison, a 30-year-old from Peachtree Corners, found himself on the wrong side of the law after stealing a U-Haul at gunpoint, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta. The Gwinnett County Police Department stated that on the morning of April 21, Harrison confronted the driver of the U-Haul, brandishing a weapon and threatening violence if he didn’t receive the goods.
According to WSB-TV, the masked assailant fled the scene towards Jimmy Carter Boulevard, leaving the victim without his possessions and means to call for help. With the aid of a passerby, he was able, to alert the authorities. The cops, turning to technology for assistance, pinpointed the pilfered truck the very next day, parked at a local convenience store.
The arrest came swiftly around 12:15 a.m., where Harrison, and an unnamed individual found with him, were taken into custody. The second-person, however, didn't face charges and was released. Harrison wasn’t so fortunate; the police recovered evidence from the robbery inside the U-Haul and slapped him with multiple felonies including armed robbery and possession of a controlled substance.
Harrison's rap sheet from the incident is extensive. He faces accusations of armed robbery, wielding a firearm during a crime, possession of methamphetamine, and an unlawful firearm possession by a convicted felon, among other charges, "FOX 5 Atlanta" reported. The Gwinnett County Jail confirmed his booking, where Harrison awaits his day in court.
