The streets of Phoenix are a touch safer today after the Phoenix Police Department, in partnership with several other agencies, wrapped up a five-day blitz on crime dubbed Operation Full Court Press, in what can only be described as a major clampdown in the city, seeking to stem the tide of violent offenses.

From May 6th through May 10th, the collaborative muscle of Phoenix PD, Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, the Maricopa County Attorney's Office, Adult Probation, and the FBI flexed and netted some significant figures, 570 arrests were made including 342 felonies, 228 misdemeanors and 13 were juveniles, and the operation seized over 3,700 fentanyl pills almost 30 grams of meth and 25 firearms among other contraband.

A staggering horde of drugs were taken off the streets, indicative of the operation's success, but part of a larger, endemic issue of narcotics within the urban fabric — an issue Phoenix law enforcement is evidently poised to combat. On top of the seized drugs, two stolen vehicles were recovered, leading to further arrests.

The operation, steeped in enforcement machismo, included takedowns of individuals involved with gangs, human exploitation, trafficking, prostitution and organized retail crime, and the uncovering of a clandestine drug lab was a showcase of investigative prowess as it turned out to be, Commander Julie Egea of the Phoenix PD lauded the officers involved: “I commend all the officers who worked diligently to make the week very successful," and she noted that “These officers work at this level every week, this week just happens to capture what they do city-wide," as was reported by the Phoenix Police Department's news release.

The operation serves as a reminder to the folks of Phoenix that working towards a safer community is an everyday mission, with the Police Department urging citizens to play their part in clearing outstanding warrants, and anyone with information on such warrants is encouraged to reach out to the Phoenix Police or Silent Witness to remain anonymous.
