A woman recovering from a neck wound is at the center of a police manhunt after a stabbing on the grounds of Clark College in Vancouver, with authorities releasing images of a man believed to be responsible for the attack. According to KOIN, the incident which occurred on Tuesday prompted a brief lockdown of the college.
The suspect, described as an East Asian or Middle Eastern male in his 30s or 40s with a beard and medium build, managed to evade capture, fleeing on foot towards Water Works Park after the attack. Meanwhile, police are investigating a possible connection between this attack and another incident involving a man matching the same description the previous day. FOX News highlighted that he attempted to enter a woman's car while she was seated inside. Fortunately she screamed and he ran away.
The victim of the stabbing was rushed to the hospital and is expected to pull through, and reports from the campus detail a sense of heightened concern following the violent episode. "I had noticed that there was a cop car in front of the building here, in front of Geiser Hall, and then a couple of other cop cars. I think three or four down the street there," David Dapp-Whisner, a Clark College student, told KATU. The school has verified that neither the individual attacked nor her assailant were enrolled as students.
Dapp-Whisner also noted the efficiency of the school's response, stating, "It was handled well. I mean, people felt safe enough to go in with their families afterward for an event in the same building." As police continue their investigation and encourage the public to be vigilant and ask them to call 911 to report suspicious behavior.
