A Port St. Lucie woman was cuffed after cops say she was caught tearing up the asphalt at breathtaking speeds—with a toddler in tow. Juliette Leon, 23, allegedly pushed her 2023 Dodge Charger Hellcat to a hair-raising 117 mph in a sedate 45 mph zone on SW Gatlin Boulevard last Thursday night, reported WPTV.

According to the police, while doing traffic enforcement spotted by two cars apparently racing, an officer clocked Leon's high-flying shenanigans. Inside the speed-demon’s ride, an 8-year-old youngster was present, a scenario which has since landed Leon additional charges of child neglect, on top of racing on highways and excessive speed.

The high-octane escapade concluded with Leon's vehicle being impounded and the young passenger being released to another family member. After being hauled to jail, Leon didn't linger long behind bars. She was released from St. Lucie County jail after posting a $3,500 bond, as WPBF reported.

In the midst of an epidemic of reckless driving that often leaves asphalt scarred and local residents shaken, Leon's story flags a dangerous trend of horsepower hubris. Leon, found with a child when she was arrested for racing on highways, faces serious consequences for a night that could have ended in tragedy, a clear reminder of the price of such brazen disregard for the sanctity of life and law.
