
The Portland Police Bureau has launched a fresh episode on its Talking Beat podcast, zeroing in on sex trafficking. To educate and inform, this new installment dives into the underbelly of the city, where men, women, and children are bought and sold against their will.
According to a press release by the Portland Police, sex trafficking isn't a far-removed issue but a reality taking place on the streets of Portland. "Every year, women, men and children are trafficked worldwide – including in the Portland. Human Trafficking—which includes sex trafficking—occurs every day on our streets.," the police revealed.
The PPB's podcast brings to the table a mix of voices, including those of the Human Trafficking Unit's members and special guests like Victim Advocate and survivor Robin Miller, along with Multnomah County Senior Deputy District Attorney JR Ujifusa. As reported on the Portland Police Bureau's official website, the discussion revolves around the unit's strategy which is both collaborative and victim-focused.
