In a move that fuses two quintessential Oregon entities, they have inked a juicy multi-year deal with Tillamook to become the soccer team's new jersey sponsor. The Timbers, who had a brief stint sporting DaBella on their gear, were in the market for a new chest badge after severing ties due to controversy at the former sponsor's company. Tillamook, an Oregon dairy staple, will now prominently grace the Timbers' threads.
It seems that Tillamook's leap into jersey sponsorship was a crowd-pleaser. "We’re excited to expand our relationship with the Portland Timbers, and this is truly a result of the fans," Kate Boltin, VP of marketing at Tillamook, confessed to KPTV. The brand's placement will not only feature on home and away jerseys but also on a special commemorative kit for the club's 50th anniversary in 2025.
Tillamook's swoon into prime jersey real estate did not just happen overnight. They've been a familiar presence around Providence Park, from having the "cheddar baby loaf" at the concessions to various stadium activations since 2014. Timbers CEO Heather Davis couldn't hide her enthusiasm. "We are absolutely thrilled to bring these two iconic Oregon brands together," Davis said in a statement obtained by KOIN.
The official jersey unveiling spun into an emotional event as it coincided with a rivalry match against the Seattle Sounders. "Tillamook is a win of course", cheered Timbers fan Celeste Craciun, echoing a sentiment that the partnership seemed to lock in its capacity to rally community support. Tillamook stands as a representation of local pride—a sentiment aptly captured by Heather Davis's claim, "Tillamook is a brand that truly represents the best of Oregon," as reported by KATU. The partnership waxes to be more than just a branding exercise—it's a proclamation of regional gusto on the soccer field.
