As San Antonio gears up to honor Memorial Day, residents should keep in mind the mixed bag of city services that will be available. According to KEN5 News, while City Hall and most municipal offices will shutter for the holiday, essential public safety services such as Police and Fire Departments, as well as a EMS personnel, will remain fully operational.

Adding to the essentials, the 3-1-1 Call Center will stay open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, May 29, ready to handle urgent animal concerns and traffic signal malfunctions until 11 p.m. For those looking to beat a San Antonio heat, a handful of public pools and cooling centers, such as Guerra and Westfall Branch Libraries, have been designated to stay open, offering respite from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. In the celebration spirit, downtown parkers will be gifted a reprieve from feeding the meters, though off-street City-operated garages and lots will maintain their usual fees, detailed KSAT News.

However, not all facilities will be flipping the open sign. The San Antonio Municipal Court, along with several community centers and administrative offices, will take a pause. The exhaustive list of closures includes the Animal Care Services Lobby and Adoption Center, various Senior/Adult Comprehensive Centers and Nutrition Sites, and all Metro Health clinics and offices.

San Antonians depending on city services should plan ahead, as bulky waste collection centers and household hazardous etcetera locations like the Bitters and Nelson Gardens Brush Recycling will also be closed. Meanwhile, the Solid Waste Management's curbside cart collection service for garbage, recycling, and organics is slated to run on its regular Monday schedule, a relief for residents amid the holiday adjustments.
