Police responded to the harrowing scene on the 400 block of North General McMullen Drive near Rosedale Park after receiving reports of a critical incident around 6:23 p.m. The child, identified as Zayden Alex Francis, had attempted to cross to a park when the collision occurred. According to KENS 5, Zayden had navigated the road successfully earlier, but was struck by a vehicle upon trying to make his way back across.

First responders arrived to find the young child critically injured. He was swiftly transported to a hospital, however, despite medical efforts, Zayden succumbed to his injuries.

Details provided by authorities indicate that Zayden had left his apartment without supervision shortly before the accident happened. The driver involved in the accident stopped immediately to render aid, and as a result, is not currently facing any charges, as noted by FOX San Antonio.
