A trip to the liquor store turned violent on San Pedro Avenue yesterday evening, when police say, a woman was shot by an employee. The San Antonio Police Department arrived at the Discount Liquor on the 6800 block after receiving a call about a robbery. However, what they found was a female customer, described as being in her 20s, with a gunshot wound to the wrist.
The incident unfolded when the woman attempted to make a purchase and an argument ensued with a male employee, according to KENS 5. The altercation escalated quickly and led to the employee allegedly discharging his firearm, striking the woman. Despite the harrowing experience, authorities have reported that she was transported to a nearby hospital and is projected to recover from her non-life-threatening injuries.
Details about the altercation remain limited, though police are firm in their belief that the victim and the employee did not have any prior acquaintance. The man involved is said to be cooperating with the SAPD investigation and, as it stands, faces no charges. Investigators are now relying on security footage to piece together the narrative and make a determination on whether the shooting stemmed from self-defense.
