A tense standoff in a Walmart parking lot has led to the arrest of David Diaz, 27, for allegedly menancing the mother of his child. Diaz is accused of threatening to shoot the woman amid a custody dispute.
The confrontation occurred last November outside a Walmart on SE Military Drive. The victim, who has not been named, was approached by Diaz while purchasing diapers for their five-week-old baby. According to News 4 San Antonio, the dispute turned violent when Diaz took a handgun from the victim's purse and aimed it at her while demanding to see the child. "Let's go before I kill this B****!" Diaz reportedly told his mother who was present during the incident.
Subsequently, the scared victim fled the scene with her baby, driving directly to a local police station to report Diaz's threatening behavior. Details from an affidavit obtained by KENS 5 indicate Diaz's presumably violent tendencies and acknowledged that the victim fears for her safety as well as that of the public.
Diaz has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bond is set at $100,000, and he is expected to appear in court for the first time in June.
