San Antonio Man Charged With Murder After Alleged Retaliatory Attack on Girlfriend's BrotherSource: Google Street View

A San Antonio man is behind bars and charged with murder after a deadly dispute with his girlfriend's brother, who had a hand in his previous arrest, authorities say. Robert Carrasco Jr., 39, allegedly assaulted 38-year-old Jason Banda on April 27, leading to Banda's death from injuries inflicted during the altercation.

Banda was found unresponsive in a home off Compton Avenue near South Flores Street on the South Side. A 911 call to police revealed that Banda had been beaten by a group of men, but it was later admitted by a relative that Carrasco was responsible for the lethal assault, as reported by FOX San Antonio. According to the same source, Carrasco's motive may have stemmed from a desire for retribution against Banda, who was involved in Carrasco's arrest earlier in the year.

An arrest warrant affidavit provided by San Antonio Police indicates that Carrasco's anger over the prior arrest led to the violent clash. Carrasco was upset at Banda 'for having him arrested earlier this year,' the document states. This incident has led to Carrasco also facing a separate charge of assault causing bodily injury–married, adding to his legal woes.

Carrasco struck Banda with a handgun, according to the testimony of a relative, a lethal move confirmed by the medical examiner's office to be the cause of death. These allegations were detailed in a statement issued on Wednesday when a warrant for Carrasco's arrest was officially filed. In March, before the fatal encounter, Carrasco had been arrested on a charge of evading arrest or detention and was out on bond, KSAT reports.

The suspect is currently detained at the Bexar County Jail, with his bond set at a combined $212,000. The charges mounted against him include murder and assault, with the case still pending further legal proceedings as Carrasco awaits his day in court.
