A homicide probe in northwest Austin has culminated in the arrest of a San Antonio man, with the Travis County Sheriff's Office detaining William Jewel Daniel, 36, on a murder charge, KXAN reports.
The arrest follows early morning efforts by deputies who responded to the crime scene at around 4 a.m. Monday they discovered a man in his 40s with gunshot wounds in the street and near the intersection of West Parmer Lane and McNeil Drive CPR procedures were initiated until Austin-Travis County EMS arrived but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives at the scene unearthed evidence suggesting the victim may have confronted a burglar attempting to break into his vehicle, this evidence led them to Daniel, who was apprehended later that day, according to CBS Austin.
While an arrest has been made, the Sheriff's Office continues its investigation to piece together the precise events that resulted in the deadly confrontation with anyone who has information about the incident being encouraged to come forward and contact the TCSO Tip Line or Crime Stoppers.
