A San Antonio man is behind bars after allegedly shooting a woman three times in what appears to be a frenzied attack at a northeast-side apartment complex, authorities said.

Jesse Salazar, 28, faces an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge for the incident that unfolded last Thursday, according to the San Antonio Police Department. The attack left the victim, an acquaintance of Salazar's, hospitalized and requiring multiple surgeries to treat her gunshot wounds, KENS 5 reported.

An arrest affidavit revealed that the woman was visiting a friend at the apartment complex located on Northeast Loop 410 when Salazar showed up unexpectedly. He reportedly knocked on the back door and upon being let in, pulled out a gun, and fired multiple times, striking the woman thrice. The authorities swooped in, piecing together the harrowing tale from the scene and witness accounts. Salazar, who shared common friends with the victim, was quickly apprehended by law enforcement. Amidst the investigation, his bond has been set at a steep $200,000.
