Meanwhile, Shake and Bake is the shelter's sweetheart—a 1-year-old German Shepherd mix with a penchant for speed, a desire to learn, and the energy that could outlast any playdate, he recently rang in his first year with the shelter staff, and they're hoping this Taurus will be romping around in a new home when his next birthday rolls around. "Both pets are available for adoption at the San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter," noted the shelter on their website, where potential pet parents can learn more about these furry candidates.

Adoption fees are looking extra friendly too; if you're ready to take home a new pal, it'll only set you back $10 and if you’re eyeing one of the shelter’s long-term residents, fees are being waived until Friday, May 31.
