
A ride-share nightmare unfolded in Sandy Springs, where a woman endured rape and burglary at the hands of her Uber driver, authorities have disclosed. Le'Myrious Monaye Dawson faces charges of theft by taking, burglary, battery, and rape following the harrowing May 5 incident, as per the Sandy Springs Police Department's account.
The victim, after being driven to her home around 2:30 a.m., was victimized by Dawson, who later breached the sanctity of her residence to commit the alleged sexual assault and burglary, according to FOX 5 Atlanta. Dawson was nabbed by detectives at West End MARTA station the next day, where they later retrieved several stolen items belonging to the victim from his car, yet police did not disclose the nature of these items.
"The men and women of the Sandy Springs Police Department worked diligently to identify, locate, and bring Mr. Dawson to justice," the department stated, according to WSB-TV. In light of this incident, and with a suspect in custody, Sandy Springs Police are calling on other departments to share if they have had any cases bearing resemblance to this appalling violation.
