A missing person alert has gripped New Hampshire as officials search for 65-year-old William Neal Donovan of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Donovan, described as an "avid" hiker, has been missing for approximately two weeks. His vehicle was discovered parked at the Crawford Path parking lot in Carroll, as reported by NBC Boston.
In their quest to possibly find Donovan, authorities have searched several areas in the White Mountains, including trails and drainage zones around Mount Eisenhower and Mount Pierce. The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department has had to contend with deep snow, which has hindered search efforts in the higher elevations. As the investigation continues, the Cambridge police, after conducting a welfare check at Donovan's residence, found a handwritten note suggesting he may want to hike Mount Jefferson and Mount Adams, according to NBC Boston.
Despite Donovan living alone and leaving no detailed plans, authorities suspect he arrived in the area on April 16. A search of Donovan's vehicle yielded several pieces of hiking gear that would have been "beneficial if he was planning a hike in the White Mountains," officials say, as reported by NBC Boston.
