The Discovery Park Beach shuttle is hitting the roads again. Starting May 25 through September 7, 2024, beachgoers can hitch a free ride across the sprawling Seattle park. Announced by Seattle Parkways, the shuttle service will be available on Saturdays, ensuring your weekend plans are covered. Just when you thought summer couldn't get any easier, it just did.
For those keen on avoiding the hassle of parking, this shuttle loops between the East, North, and Beach parking lots, arriving at each spot roughly every half hour. According to the schedule, the shuttle kicks off at 11 am and calls it a day at 5:30 pm, with the last trip from the beach slated for 5:15 pm. Remember, while the ride's free, donations are welcomed to keep the wheels turning.
You can bring your best pal if they’re a service animal, and don't fret about squeezing the stroller in either. As announced by Seattle Parkways, these are welcome aboard. But before you start packing, take note. Bringing Fido for a beach day? Think again. Pets, along with coolers, surfboards, paddleboards, and other oversized items, are a no-go on the shuttle.
Before you apply sunscreen and put on your sunglasses, remember to pack light and plan for a parking spot near the shuttle if you're carrying more than the allowed amount. It's important to keep the shuttle fleet agile and the aisles clear, which we can all appreciate when we just want to enjoy the summer without extra hassle. So, leave the picnic table at home and just bring a beach blanket. Take this as a reminder to prepare for a smooth trip to the beach next weekend.
