A bold theft at a Dillard's department store went awry for two shoplifters when they were confronted by deputies from Constable Mark Herman's Office. The incident, which took place on May 14th at a location off the Eastex Freeway, turned violent as the suspects resisted arrest.

The duo caught concealing luxury handbags worth upwards of $597, ignored verbal commands from the deputies. The confrontation escalated when the female suspect, later identified as Amber Gardner, allegedly struck a deputy multiple times. After the use of a department-issued Taser, Gardner was detained. Her accomplice, Charlie Nelson, was also taken into custody without further incident.

According to a post on their Facebook page, Constable Mark Herman stated, "Both suspects were arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail. Amber Gardner was charged with Assault on a Peace Officer and Robbery Threats. Her total bond was set at $20,000.00 out of the 262nd District Court. Charlie Nelson was charged with Theft. His bond was set at $100.00 out of County Court 4."
