In the shadow of an approaching somber anniversary, the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center has launched a campaign to honor the victims of the Robb Elementary School shooting. The center is offering a specially designed "United for Uvalde" t-shirt available to blood donors, with the initiative running through the end of May. As reported by FOX San Antonio, each shirt features the phrase "Give to remember," symbolizing a commitment to donate blood and remember the lives lost.
These memorial shirts can be redeemed using points accrued from previous blood donations, according to the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center. Proceeds from the campaign will benefit the Uvalde Strong Fund, established by the San Antonio Area Foundation. The fund lends support to the survivors, honors the victims, and provides ongoing assistance to the Uvalde community. Following the tragic events on May 24, 2022, which saw the loss of 19 students and 2 teachers, the center had delivered 25 units of blood to the affected via helicopter within 67 minutes, playing a crucial role in the emergency response, as stated by KSAT.
Local superintendents are set to join the cause this Friday, rolling up their sleeves to donate blood and showcasing their ongoing solidarity with the community of Uvalde.
