Residents of St. Louis Park, get ready to declutter your homes and spruce up your spaces because the annual spring cleanup is just around the corner. As reported by St. Louis Park, you can bring your bulky items, appliances, and electronics to the Municipal Service Center located at 7305 Oxford St. from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 8.
According to event guidelines, only residents of St. Louis Park are eligible to participate, and everyone is asked to please pay by check or credit/debit card, as cash transactions will not be accepted. Those driving into the event should prepare to quickly unload their materials—though limited assistance is available for anyone who might need it. It’s crucial to note that safety measures require attendees to turn off their engines while unloading to ensure not only personal safety but also to lessen vehicle emissions.
The spring cleanup will accept a variety of items, ranging from bulky trash and remodeling debris to electronics. As per the official bulletin, fees for disposal will vary depending on the size of the load, with prices like $25 for a trunk load and upward to $150 for a box truck load. Appliances such as dishwashers, fridges, and dryers are tagged at $15 each, and disposal of electronics starts at $5.
For the earth-conscious, there's an opportunity to potentially see their old items be given new life. On-site vendors will assess salvageable materials that could be reused or repurposed; however, standard load fees will still apply. Items like lumber, countertops, and sinks may find themselves spared from the landfill. Participants can also dispose of free items such as clothing and bicycles without worry about fees. However, some items, like paper for shredding, dirt, and concrete, will not be accepted at this event. Questions about ineligible materials can be addressed by emailing [email protected] or calling public works at 952.924.2562.
Residents looking to participate in the cleanup are reminded that, for the safety of attendees and volunteers, biking or walking materials into the event is strictly prohibited. Be sure to check the full list of materials accepted and be ready for a productive day of unloading and bidding farewell to unwanted clutter.
