A security guard has been cuffed after turning an argument in a store into a potentially deadly incident, Metro cops said Tuesday.
Officials reported that the guard, identified as Trayonta McCrea, 33, was arrested after he pulled a gun during a dust-up with a customer inside a business on the 1600 block of Maryland Avenue, Northeast. The confrontation, which took place on Sunday around 4:53 p.m., spiraled out of control when McCrea threatened the man with an unregistered firearm, police said.
According to a statement from the Metropolitan Police Department, responding officers took McCrea into custody and subsequently recovered the weapon nearby.
McCrea, who hails from Bel Alton, MD, is now facing charges of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm. Details of what triggered the altercation have not yet been disclosed by law enforcement officials.
