A burglar was caught red-handed and arrested for breaking into a home in the Ponderosa Subdivision, law enforcement officials said on Wednesday. Officers from Constable Mark Herman's Office were called to the 1500 block of Ash Meadow Drive on May 14 after a male suspect, later identified as Sammie Crutchfield, forcibly entered a residence and helped himself to the property within.

Deputy constables managed to track down Crutchfield in the vicinity of the crime, quickly incarcerating him and recovering the ill-gotten goods which were promptly returned to their rightful owner, during the incident it was also discovered that Crutchfield had an existing warrant for Criminal Trespass, which added to his list of legal woes. The capture and subsequent arrest of the suspect were detailed in a Facebook post by Herman's office.

“Sammie Crutchfield was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Burglary to a Habitation. He is awaiting bond out of the 337th District Court.” a statement by Constable Mark Herman. The social media update did not specify whether Crutchfield has obtained legal representation or when his first court appearance might take place. The neighborhood has been reminded of the necessity to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to authorities.
