It was a close call on Niles Canyon Road earlier this month when a man jumped from his vehicle and flagged down help, a victim of a shooting. The Alameda County Sheriff's Office reported that deputies were called to the scene around 7:08 a.m. on May 15, where they found a wounded man in his 30s, bleeding from gunshot wounds to his upper body. The quick response of deputies and EMS helped stabilize the man, who was rushed to a hospital and remains in stable condition, according to the office's official Facebook page.
Investigators got their break in the case when they traced Jesus "Morro" Gonzalez-Solis, the suspect connected to the incident, to a transient encampment in Hayward, where the detectives, during an attempted escape by Gonzalez-Solis, caught him on May 28. The arrest saw the seizure of a loaded 9mm AR-15 pistol, which Gonzalez-Solis had on his person at the time of his capture. The Sheriff's Office credited the success of the apprehension to "the outstanding work of our patrol division and a diligent investigation by detectives from our Eden Township Substation."
Gonzalez-Solis now faces charges of attempted murder, among other weapons-related allegations. The Alameda County Sheriff's Office has reinforced its commitment to community safety in light of the incident, though they have not disclosed any detail about the motive behind the shooting. "The motive for the shooting is still under investigation. We will not release any further information at this time," the Sheriff's Office statement concluded.
