A teenage boy was fatally shot in Northwest D.C., and the police are actively investigating the homicide, authorities said. The Metropolitan Police Department reported that on Saturday, May 18, officers responded to a 3:28 a.m. call about a shooting on the 1200 block of V Street.
Upon arrival, they discovered a juvenile suffering from a gunshot wound. The 16-year-old, identified as Devon Sharp of Northwest, DC, was transported to an area hospital for urgent care, according to the MPD's official website.
The incident took a grimmer turn two days later when, on May 20, Sharp succumbed to his injuries. MPD confirmed the victim's death following the hospital treatment he received in the wake of the shooting.
