Fans of The Black Keys were struck with disappointing news as the rock duo axed the North American segment of their "International Players" concert tour, which included a highly anticipated stop at Knoxville's Food City Center on October 27, as reported by WVLT.
The sudden announcement came via social media on Sunday where the band stated, “Following the recent run of shows in the UK & Europe, including stops at iconic venues like Brixton Academy and the Zenith in Paris, we have decided to make some changes to the North American leg of the International Players Tour that will enable us to offer a similarly exciting, intimate experience for both fans and the band, and will be announcing a revised set of dates shortly" while assuring everyone that band members Dan & Patrick are alive and well despite the abrupt tour changes patrons who had previously snagged tickets were told not to worry because a full refund on the original method of payment used at time of purchase will be appearing on their accounts within 14-21 days after Ticketmaster receives funds from the event organizer, according to WBIR.
Further details disclosed by 9NEWS included canceled performances at various notable venues such as Denver’s Ball Arena set for September 24, indicating that 31 dates in total were nixed, sending ripples of disappointment across the fanbase eagerly anticipating the band's return to the states after the European leg of their tour.
The Black Keys promised ticket holders that they would receive priority access to the new dates once they're revealed, with the band expressing, "Thank you for your understanding and apologies for the surprise change… We’re pretty sure everyone is going to be excited when you see what we have in mind though, and look forward to seeing everyone soon," leaving fans hopeful yet hanging in the balance as they await further announcements about the opportunity to experience what promises to be an intimate and reimagined continuation of The Black Keys' musical journey.
