Thursday Brings The Week’s Best Storm Chance

Thursday starts mostly sunny, but showers and thunderstorms become possible after 2 p.m. The high should reach about 90 degrees before easing into the upper 80s, with a 40% chance of rain and light southwest winds.

Storm chances continue Thursday night, when the probability rises to 50% and temperatures dip to around 69. Forecasters say a few storms could produce strong wind gusts and locally heavy rain, though the potential for severe weather remains uncertain.

Weekend Turns Mostly Sunny And Hotter

Friday, August 28, brings another chance of showers before 11 a.m., followed by a chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Skies turn partly sunny with a high near 88, while Friday night falls to about 68 and storm chances fade after the evening.

Saturday should be mostly sunny and near 90, followed by a partly cloudy Saturday night around 69. Sunday and Monday stay mostly sunny with highs near 91, and the heat builds further Tuesday, September 1, when Knoxville could reach 93 with only a slight afternoon storm chance.

For outdoor plans, Wednesday offers the clearest window before the Thursday-Friday storm pattern arrives. With several days in the low 90s ahead, hydration, shade and a break from the afternoon heat will be more than reasonable preparations.
