A house in Tigard was the scene of two blazes in one day, leading to multiple displacements and a wave of concern among residents about the potential threat to nearby homes, fire officials reported on Sunday. The Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue department responded to the first incident around 3 p.m. at a home on Southwest Johnson Street, where they encountered heavy fire and smoke, as per KPTV.
Firefighters managed to control the initial flames which were concentrated on an exterior balcony at the rear of the residence but later in the day, the same house was aflame once more, intensifying the investigation into the causes of the fires and whether they were connected, the house had caught fire once prior before the evening incident, according to a KATU News interview with neighbors.
Corrine Haning, Public Affairs Officer with TVFR, confirmed to reporters that “The first fire was an exterior balcony fire, at the rear of the house,” adding that “The second fire is still under investigation.” TVFR officials emphasized that the rapid response and diligent work by the firefighting crews played a pivotal role in extinguishing the fires and that no injuries have been reported as a result of these incidents.
More information will be available as the investigation unfolds and updates are expected in the following days.
