A 4-year-old girl tragically lost her life after being retrieved from a pool in Glendale, as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix. The incident occurred near 59th Avenue and Camelback Road on Thursday evening, first responders reached the site at approximately 7:30 p.m. to discover the unconscious child.

Following the distressing event, the Glendale Fire Department responded to the emergency at 6041 W Medlock Drive, and upon pulling the young girl out of the water, CPR was immediately administered, noted by 12 News, despite the swift and continued life-saving efforts throughout her transport to the hospital, the girl sadly passed away.

An investigation into the incident by Glendale police has since determined that no suspicious circumstances were at play and that charges will not be filed. The tragic event has raised awareness yet again on the critical matter of pool safety, particularly for small children who are at a high risk of drowning.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that drowning is the foremost cause of death for young children between ages 1 and 4, apart from congenital disabilities. As a keen reminder of this ongoing peril, the CDC offers crucial tips for drowning prevention, these include learning basic swimming and CPR skills, ensuring the installation of a four-sided isolation fence around pools, using life jackets and close, undistracted supervision of children near water. These guidelines are especially pertinent as the summer months approach and outdoor activities increase.
