
Tragedy struck the Eastex Freeway early on Sunday, when two drivers, ages 24 and 35, were killed in a head-on collision, Houston authorities report. The crash, involving a white Toyota Corolla and a gray Honda Accord, happened at approximately 2:50 a.m. near 1200 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59).
The Toyota, driven by the 35-year-old, was hit by the Honda, which was driven by the 24-year-old and was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes. Both drivers, whose names have not been released, pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, were pronounced deceased at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics.
According to an announcement by the City of Houston, Sgt. R. Dallas and Officer T. Johnson of the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division are spearheading the ongoing investigation into the fatal incident.
